My Amazing Pregnancy Experience!

Just over 10 months ago, I found out that I was going to be having a baby. Scary, yes.. but as time went on I found myself getting use to the idea that my life would never be the same again. My selfishness could no longer be a part of me. On December 30th 2009 at 8:30 am I was induced, The nurses monitored me to make sure little Bradley was doing okay then I was discharged until the next day. On December 31st I went back in early morning because I was experiencing contractions. Let me tell you they are SO painful. The doctor checked me and I was 3cm dilated. They showed me to my room. I was in a lot of pain. I asked if i could have a shot of morphine ha ha. I felt so sleepy and happy, so I decided to turn on the food network and what do I see, My all time favorite show, Dinner Impossible. Guess what? It was a marathon.. could I have gotten any luckier? Anyways back to the contractions.. They weren't getting any closer or stronger so the doctor broke my water. Not too long after that they injected me with this thing called oxytosen ( I'm not sure how to spell that one) This is a drug that replicates the hormones in your body that makes you have strong contractions. No longer than a few minutes later I was experiencing very very strong contractions. This lasted for about 4 hrs. During that time my mom, Patrick and my dula Beth were at my side. At 10:50 the nurse came in to check how far along I was, I was 6 cm dilated. Fifteen minutes later I started screaming my head off asking for the epidural, the nurse came in to check how many centimetres I was so that she could give me the injection. I was fully dilated. I had no choice but to do this all natural. I pushed for 30 minutes, wow did it ever hurt. Finally Bradley came out at 12:02 am January 1st 2010, he was the first baby of all Durham!Sadly he wasn't breathing at all, his umbilical cord got pinched by his head so he wasn't getting enough oxygen. After a few minutes the nurses got him breathing. While that was happening I was being operated on, I was hemorrhaging, that's when you loose a lot of blood, I needed to be stitched up and all that good stuff. It was really scary because you don't expect these things to happen to you. I'm glad we both made it through labor safe and sound. After a 5 day stay at the Oshawa hospital I was finally able to take him home. Being a new mom is hard work, the little guy gets up to feed every 2 hours. I wouldn't change it for the world. I love my son and I can't wait to watch him grow up. I find he looks a lot like me.. What a lucky guy eh? Anyways thats pretty much it. I'm so blessed to have a healthy baby. I can't wait to go visit my friends at school. I really do miss everybody, i hope they miss me ha ha.

One Week Left!

I can`t believe it, one more week until I meet my son. This past nine months has been the toughest but most rewarding time of my life. I can`t tell you how excited I am to finally hold my son in my arms and tell him I love him. I might be young and maybe not the best candidate for raising a young child, but I promised myself I would do anything and everything to make sure my son grows up and has a bright future. I couldn`t have made it past all this without the love and support of my parents, friends and even teachers. It’s a true blessing to have so many people around me in my time of need. Anyways I better get back to work; I have a lot to do before Bradley comes into this world!

My Hands Are So Swollen

At 37 weeks I thought that the worst part was over, guess not. My hands and feet are so swollen, I look like Shrek or something along those lines. I can barely bend my fingers. Its pretty embarrassing, as for my feet, I miss wearing my shoes. I can only wear sandals or slippers. It's depressing. I can no longer paint my own toe nails, it's nice sometimes, because that way other people can do it for me ha-ha.

9 Months Pregnant!

I can't believe I'm 9 months pregnant, I'm going to be a new mommy so soon! This entire experience has been life changing, it really has. I'm so nervous to give birth, I rarely get any sleep anymore I'm totally exhausted. I just want to hold my new son in my arms and finally give him a kiss because Ive been waiting for so long. My stomach is so big now, all I can wear are sweat pants and my school polar, trust me, it's sexier than it sounds ha-ha. In a way I'm going to miss being pregnant. As weird as that sounds, because it's almost like only I can share something so special with Bradley and soon enough I'm going to have to share :(. Pregnancy really is a awesome thing, hopefully you all get to experience it someday!

My Surprise Baby Shower!

At 35 weeks pregnant my mom decided to throw me a surprise baby shower. It was so much fun. I was so shocked, I had no idea. So many people showed up, it made me feel so good, because it’s the first time anyone has ever gone through so much trouble to plan something for me. It was all girls, obviously, but my friend Patrick decided to come, he was the only guy there, he must have felt so awkward ha-ha. I got so many amazing gifts, I was so grateful. My most favorite gift had to be the tiny puma shoes for Bradley, he’s going to be so styling once he’s born.I really hope the doctors were right about me having a boy, or else my daughter is going to have to get use to blue for the first year or two of her life. I can’t wait to meet him..or her ha-ha.Only five more weeks to go, isn’t that just crazy?

Now A days, Us Pregnant Women Have A Choice

I wasn`t aware that now today pregnant women have a choice in choosing how they want to proceed with the birth of their child. Of course every decision comes with risks. My family doctor told me that I could proceed with a natural birth, or have an Elective Cesarean. For those of you who don`t know what that is, it`s a c- section. The only difference is, is that you take your own risks and understand the complications. I really did think about it for a couple weeks. I did some research and I tried to inform myself as much as possible, but at the end of the day there’s just way too many risks that I just don`t want to take. I have faith that everything will be okay, well I hope so anyways. Now the only thing to do is prepare myself for the many hours of child birth.
